EUROMECH Colloquium 464b "Wind Energy"

at: University of Oldenburg, Germany

from: 4th to 7th of October, 2005.

Focus: Fundamental aspects of fluid mechanics and mechanics of solids for wind energy conversion.

Authors wishing to contribute are invited to submit an abstract of their presentation. Details of the submission procedure are explained at the conference homepage

Deadline for abstract submission: June 30, 2005.

Central topics of the EUROMECH Colloquium 464b "Wind Energy" will be the description of the atmospheric turbulent wind condition on different time scales, and the interaction of wind turbines with wind and water flows, which determine the turbine design, operation and maintenance. Topics of particular interest include:

* wind climate & wind field

* gusts, extreme events & turbulence

* rotor aerodynamics & wake effects

* sea states & wave loads

* materials (composites, steel, concrete) & fatigue

* structural health monitoring

The aim of this EUROMECH colloquium is to bring together scientists and engineers from academic institutions and industry from all over Europe actively doing fundamental or applied research in the described fields of wind energy. The colloquium will be informal in character, without parallel sessions, and the number of participants will be limited. This will provide the basis for intensive discussions of the participantsí current research and for successful mutual exchange.

The EUROMECH Colloquium 464b "Wind Energy" is organized by

Prof. Dr. Joachim Peinke (Univ. of Oldenburg, Institute of Physics)

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Schaumann (Univ. of Hannover, Institute for Steel Construction).

The Scientific Committee:

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Kühn (University of Stuttgart, D)

Prof. Dr. Eur.-Ing. Ramgopal Puthli (University of Karlsruhe, D)

Prof. Dr. Soeren E. Larsen (Risø National Laboratory, DK)

Prof. Dr. Gijs van Kuik (Duwind/TU Delft, NL)

Prof. Dr. Daniel Schertzer (CEREVE, Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, F)
