The "Virtual Institute" - a cooperation project in international law

In this presentation there will be given an overview about the "Virtual Institute", a research project at a Max-Planck-Institute working on the field of international law.

This project will combine standard software solutions and the research for new technologies in an extensive cooperation between Max-Planck-Insitutes, universities, and computer companies to improve the working of law scientists especially in the field of handling electronic information.

The presentation will be divided into three parts:

  1. The fields of activity the law scientists are working on at the institute, the special function of the library and the electronic information.
  2. Requirements for a database of electronic documents in international law.
  3. An overview about the projects and the possibilities of cooperation.
